Natural Gas Pipeline Sizing & Network Analysis
Check natural gas pipe sizes, estimate pressure drop and velocity, and compare suitable steel and polyethylene pipe options with Future GasNet Pro™.
Engineering experience, practical design tools
Developed by Future Energy, Future GasNet Pro™ brings specialist natural gas engineering experience into a practical application for pipeline sizing and network assessment. Clear calculations and professional reporting help engineers compare options and make informed design decisions.
Assess your pipeline
Pressure Drop & Velocity Analysis
Enter the flow, inlet pressure, length and selected pipe bore to review outlet pressure, pressure drop and gas velocity.
Pipe Sizing & Selection
Compare standard pipe sizes against the required outlet pressure and velocity limit for your entered operating conditions.
Flow Capacity Assessment
Estimate the flow a selected pipe can carry within the entered pressure and velocity criteria.
Analyse a gas network
Build connected pipe networks, assess pressures and velocities, compare pipe sizes and estimate network capacity using project-specific supply conditions and demands.
Inputs for a useful assessment
- Gas flow and reference conditions
- Inlet pressure and required outlet pressure
- Pipe material, internal diameter and length
- Fittings, gas properties and temperature
- Project-specific efficiency and velocity criterion
Outputs you can work with
- Pressure drop, outlet pressure and velocity
- Pipe-size comparisons and capacity estimates
- Editable project files saved to your device
- A printable calculation report
Calculation basis and scope
The application supports steady-state natural gas pipe calculations and connected network analysis. The pipe calculation basis references IGEM/TD/3 Edition 6 for MOP up to 7 bar(g); use each calculation mode within its stated scope and limits. Standard dimensions for Steel Schedule 40/80 and PE pipes are provided, with a custom internal diameter option for project-specific assessment.
Results depend on the entered gas properties, pipe data and operating assumptions. Fitting coefficients and retained PE bead allowances require appropriate project data. Hydraulic results support engineering assessment; they do not establish mechanical suitability, equipment ratings or approval of a complete installation.
